Fee hike likely in private colleges of Karnataka

New Delhi : Colleges under Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association (KUPECA) will likely to increase five to ten percent hike in the fee structure from 2014-1015 session.

According to local newspaper report, the government has accepted a five to 10 percent hike in fees from the coming academic session. A meeting between government officials, chaired by higher education minister R V Deshpande, and KUPECA was held on Wednesday. Another meeting will be held on Saturday.

The fee structure and seat-sharing ratio for colleges will soon be released.

"We have asked for a small hike in the fee structure and a bigger hike next year with the implementation of the Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Determination of Fee) Act 2006. We hope that the issue may be sorted out by Saturday. The hike may be in the range of 5 to 10 per cent, though nothing has been finalised yet, said KUPECA chief M K Panduranga Setty to a local newspaper.
