Scholarships awarded to 60 Indian students by Australian Government

The Australian Government, under the Endeavor Scholarships and Fellowships program has recently granted Scholarships to 60 Indian scholars to help the candidates pursue their studies and research in the country. The total number of Indians to receive the Scholarships in the year 2015, which are competitive awards, has increased from 40 in 2014 to 60 this year. The students selected for these scholarships can utilize Australia's superior research infrastructure, take up professional development and associate with top academics in their field. The students who received these scholarships can pursue their studies or take up research at vocational, postgraduate (PG) and post-doctoral levels in Australia. They can also join professional development programs at a top Australian university and choose among a wide range of academic fields. According to government officials, these programmes will enhance the mutual understanding between the two countries and will also boost knowledge sharing. It's said to be a step taken in the direction of developing international networks. This will go a long way improving the ties between the two countries, as quoted by a national daily. The Scholarships for the academic year 2015 have been awarded to 528 international students and 154 Australians, who can take up study and research abroad. Out of these students three would be traveling to India next year. Australia has become one of the top most preferred destinations among students of India who are willing to pursue their higher education overseas. Indian students make up the second largest group of international students in Australia, as per recent statistics. Currently there are over 40,000 Indian students who are pursuing their education in Australia. The application process for the 2016 Endeavor Scholarship and Fellowship is expected to commence from April, 2015 onwards.
