Parliamentary Panel Visits VSSCNovember 7, 2014
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests on Thursday congratulated ISRO scientists for the successful Mars mission. Mangalyan has enabled India to enter a select league of spacefaring nations, it noted.
The committee chaired by Ashwani Kumar which is here to visit various ISRO facilities, called at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) and the ISRO Inertial Systems Unit (IISU) on Thursday. The low cost and success at the very first Mars shot have come as the icing on the cake, he added.
The committee observed that present-day science requires close collaboration among various streams of science as opposed to stand-alone approach and research. VSSC director M Chandradathan briefed the Committee about VSSC’s new projects. At the IISU, director P P Mohanlal briefed the committee on the activities there.
The committee will be visiting the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) and the Indian Institute of Space Technology (IIST) on Friday.
