JD(U) has demanded UPPSC to provide exam centres in Ghaziabad or Meerut for the state civil services main examination reported PTI. "JD(U) strongly criticises the regional bias shown towards western UP and strongly demands from UPPSC that a centre for Mains exam should be provided either in Ghaziabad or Meerut," party spokesperson K C Tyagi said in a statement. "The choice of the exam centre given to examinees clearly shows regional imbalance and a bias towards the population of western UP," he said. The party also urged Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to ensure the same so that students hailing from western UP can concentrate more on preparations of the examination. The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has announced the dates of the main examinations, which will start from November 5. Tyagi said the main exams normally goes on for almost two weeks and it becomes practically impossible for students of western UP to travel either to Lucknow or Allahabad for the exams and renting a place in either of the two cities for two weeks becomes financially "unviable". He said that due to this, many of the students who clear the preliminary exams are not able to appear for the main examination.
