Azim Premji University to introduce undergraduate programme from July 2015

Azim Premji University, Bangalore, declared the launch of its undergraduate programme from July 2015. It is a not-for-profit, private, autonomous university, which is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 22F. The undergraduate programmes will be commencing from July, 2015. This will be a full time, three-year, residential programme for degrees in Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). The students will also get the opportunity to take up research and projects to obtain an Honours degree. There are also some specialisations courses for students in the field of Humanities (Literature, Philosophy and History) , Sciences (Physics, Biology) and Social Sciences (Economics, Politics). Vice Chancellor Anurag Behar says that the decision will be beneficial for the careers of the young adults. "Higher education must prepare young adults with expertise in their field of interests, ability to deal with challenges of life and contribute to society. Azim Premji University is an attempt in that direction," he says. The students will be offered a 'Common Curriculum', which will allow them to develop their core competences in communication and reasoning, participate in creative aesthetic pursuits, engage with social, political and economic aspects of society. Important Dates: Applications will open in November, 2014. The university will organise an open house session for parents, students and others who want to know more about the programmes and scope. The open house, which will be organized on October 11, 2014 between 2:30pm to 4:30 pm, will give opportunity to parents and students to clarify all the queries related to the courses.
