Osmania University delivered Degrees to 100 Foreign Student

Osmania University held its seventh annual graduation ceremony for foreign students at the Centre for Distance Education on its campus here on Tuesday. As many as 100 graduate and post-graduate students received their degrees.

“Graduation Day is a very important day not only for the passing-out batch but also for the teachers and parents,” said Dirgham AH Alkhafaji, cultural attache to the counsellor of the embassy of Republic of Iraq in New Delhi, who was the chief guest at the event.

University registrar K Pratap Reddy said that around 4,500 students from 84 countries were currently enrolled in the university. “Apart from the existing list, this year we have received applications from seven new countries. They are from Gambia, Madagascar, Senegal, Seychelles, Swaziland, Togo and Zimbabwe,” he said.

“In the wake of globalisation, the university strongly believes that international co-operation holds the key to pursuit of excellence in higher education,” he added.

Centre director C Venugopal Reddy asked the students not to forget the legacy of the institute.

“Though you are leaving today, do keep in touch with your alma mater. Also, I request you to remember the strong history and culture of the institute,” he said.
