DUSU polls: 25% voting till 11am

Polling across 50 centres have started for the Delhi University Students' Union polls amid tight security from 8.30am. There is heavy police deployment in North Campus with the Chaatra Marg being made out of bound for regular traffic and public.

Around 20% polling recorded in the campus colleges in the first two hours of polling, while overall polling till 11am has been recorded at 25%. Polling will continue till 12.30pm in morning colleges. Polling in evening colleges will start from 3pm to 7pm.

21% voting recorded in first two hours at Miranda House. Heavy rush for voting at Ramjas and Hindu colleges.

Apart from voting for the four central panel posts — president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary, polling is also on for college students' union for individual colleges. There are 750 EVMs being used for the elections.

In all 28 candidates are contesting for the DUSU central panel. Students' leaders of different students' groups are seen in front of colleges trying to woo student voters.

Long queue for DUSU polls in outer colleges. While Rajdhani college's union is on suspension, there is rush for DUSU panel voting.


Meanwhile, ABVP and NSUI activists were seen persuading the voters even now at the Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station.
