NSUI’s DUSU presidential and vice-presidential candidate did forgery to gain admissionSeptember 11, 2014
Congress-backed National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) is in a problem and this time because of their presidential and vice-presidential candidate. They may have trouble in gaining even a single vote.
Its rival group Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), on Wednesday revealed documents alleging that the NSUI’s presidential and vice-presidential candidate forged documents and hide information to get admission in the university.
While the ABVP has accused vice-presidential candidate Mona Chaudhary of furnishing fake documents, it has accused Gaurav Tushir, the presidential candidate, of “concealing information and misleading college authorities”.
Mona is pursuing LLB from the Campus Law Centre (CLC) while Tushir is doing his BA from Motilal Nehru College (Evening).
After the documents were made public, professor in-charge at CLC, Usha Tandon, suggested cancelling Mona’s admission. “It is emphatically suggested that Mona Siwach alias Ms Mona Chaudhary’s admission to LLB course may summarily be cancelled with immediate effect on the basis of available documentary evidence,” Tandon wrote in a letter to the Dean, Faculty of Law, and marked the letter to D S Rawat, the chief election officer of DUSU polls.
“We have received the complaints and forwarded it to the colleges. If they state that the candidates’ admissions stand cancelled, they could be barred from contesting elections,” Rawat said.
“This year, Mona took admission in LLB with a BA degree from Manav Bharti University, Himachal Pradesh, which she pursued from 2010-2013. This is a regular full-time degree. During the same period, she was pursuing BSc in Physical Sciences from Kirorimal College. How can she be studying in two universities at the same time?” Saket Bahuguna, ABVP general secretary, said.
“Gaurav took admission in Hansraj College in 2011 and failed the first year. He went to Satyawati College in 2012 and concealed information about his admission to Hansraj. Thus, his admission was cancelled by Satyawati College. The principal of Moti Lal Nehru College wrote to Satyawati College to enquire about Tushir’s admission and the principal confirmed it,” he said.
Rubbishing the claims, NSUI national president Roji John said, “We have got the notices from the college authorities and have replied to them. There is no issue regarding the admission of the two candidates.”
