‘’Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled interaction with 1000 students on Teacher’s Day is not compulsory for the students’’, said Human Resource Minister Smriti Irani. She added that it is voluntary and they have the choice to not to participate in the interactive session.
There were reports that students were forced to take part in the interaction. However, Irani slammed the reports and said that “this particular activity is voluntary in nature; if it is being politicized then I would say it is regrettable”.
The program will see Modi interact with 1000 selected students and take questions via video conferencing at the Manekshaw Stadium in the capital on the occasion of Teacher’s Day from 3 pm to 4:45 pm. The program will be beamed live to over 1, 80,000 Government and private schools in the country through Doordarshan and other educational channels.
