Delhi University receives over 50,000 applications from UP

New Delhi : Delhi University admissions that came to an end on Monday (June 16) saw a total of over 2.7 lakh applications. Out of the total applications received for the admissions to Four Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUP) at DU, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand had the maximum number of applicants.
A total of 51,879 students from UP and Uttarakhand wish to take admissions in UG courses of DU for this session. This list has been followed by Delhi from where 40, 062 candidates applied. Only 146 candidates applied from Karnataka.
State-wise distribution of applications received for FYUP admissions at University of Delhi:
UP and Uttarakhand: 51,879 candidates
Delhi: 40,062 candidates
Bihar and Jharkhand: 14,559
Rajasthan: 5,614 candidates
MP and Chattisgarh: 4,182
Punjab: 2, 488 candidates
Jammu and Kashmir: 987 candidates
Himachal Pradesh: 865 candidates
Andhra Pradesh: 591
Tamil Nadu: 316
West Bengal: 1, 968
Assam: 1, 403
North Eastern: 1, 516
Around 60,000 candidates have applied for English, which has become the most sought-after course, though, there is an availability of only 4,362 seats in this course in DU .
The race for 54, 000 seats in 70 different colleges of Delhi University began on June 2. The first cut-off will be released on June 24. (Source- India today)
