UGC aid for holding meets depends on performance

New Delhi : The University Grants Commission (UGC) has invited applications for financial assistance to colleges and universities for organizing conferences, workshops or seminars under the UGC'S 12th plan period. The last date to send applications is July 31.

"The University Grants Commission provides financial assistance to colleges for organizing conferences, workshops and seminars under its scheme. The scheme is in its 12th plan period (2012-2017)," stated a UGC circular dated April 28.

The circular further states that colleges that are interested in organizing conferences, workshops and seminars under the scheme may send their proposals in the prescribed format along with a list of resource persons. For international-level conferences, the University Grants Commission has asked for clearance from the Union ministry of external affairs along with a separate proposal.

The circular states that the last date for submitting the application is July 31. "The proposal has to be submitted through the director of the board of college and university development (BCUD) of the respective universities," states the circular.

"The college's or department's academic performance is taken into consideration before granting financial assistance to conduct the workshops.
