500 students of Gujarat University get zero marks

Ahmedabad: About 500 students of Master of Arts, Gujarati Literature students received a shock when all of them found that one of the paper all the students were marked zero.

Officials said that the head of the department Kirtida Bhatt had even brought the matter to the notice of the controller of examination, who informed the vice-chancellor MN Patel about the same.

Officials said that when the results were announced, the students of semester I and III found that they had had got equal marks and it was zero.

Upset at the goof up the students made representation the head of the department. The matter was then taken to the vice chancellor who informed the Controller of examination to carry out random checking of the papers and also directed that the university will not charge any fee from the these 500 students for rechecking.

The VC also asked the controller of examination to seek help from professors and experts from other university if there changes in the marks of the students whose papers were checked. The VC has said that if there was an error on the part of the Gujarat University or the professor who checked the paper, then there was a need to go get to the bottom of the issue as this was a big goof up and such errors cannot be tolerated by the university. The Controller of examination has called for the papers and is now getting it verified with the results to rule out any error in the entering the marks. (TOI).
