Paper pattern for Engineering Services Examination of UPSC

Ministry of Railways has invited applications from eligible candidates for recruitment of various positions. The candidates will be selected through a Combined Competitive Engineering Services Examination to be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

First phase will involve a written test which will comprise of two sections - Section I will consist of objective type questions and Section II will be of conventional papers.

Second phase will involve personality test carrying a maximum of 200 marks for candidates qualifying in the written examination.

Paper pattern:
Category-I Civil Engineering-The paper will be of maximum 1000 marks with each section of 200 marks. The duration for each paper will be 2 hours for objective and 3 hours for conventional.

General Ability Test
(Part A : General English)
(Part B : General Studies)
Civil Engineering Paper-I
Civil Engineering Paper-II
Section II-Conventional Papers
Civil Engineering Paper-I
Civil Engineering Paper-II

Category-II Mechanical Engineering-
The paper will be of maximum 1000 marks with each section of 200 marks. The duration for each paper will be 2 hours for objective and 3 hours for conventional.
