Patna: In view of the overwhelming response of students for admission to various undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses,
the Central University of Bihar (CUB) has extended the last date for submission of forms by a week.
CUB controller of examinations C L Prabhavathi said students seeking admission to various academic programmes could submit their applications online or offline latest by May 2. Earlier, the last date for submission was April 25.
CUB public relations officer Mohammad Mudassir Alam said the university had invited applications for admission in as many as 26 courses including four integrated undergraduate programmes, sixteen postgraduate programmes and six integrated MPhil-PhD programmes. It would conduct an online test at 35 centres across the country including 10 centres in Bihar on May 31 and June 1.
Statistics department head Arun Kumar Sinha said the department had added several state-of-the-art programmes in the upcoming academic session (2014-15) for making the MSc course more attractive and for acquainting students with the new data analysis techniques. Besides, business analytics had been added as a new area of an elective paper for the Master's degree programme in Statistics. Globally, it is considered an important area of Statistics that can increase the productivity of a company manifold.
Another popular course launched by CUB is the Master's degree course in Communication and Media Studies (CMS) under the Centre for Mass Communication and Media. CMS head Iftekhar Ahmad said there was enormous employment potential for the students of this course. With a degree in Media, students could shape up their career in this field in a proper way, he added.
